SCHOOL PICTURE DAY: The students will have their pictures taken for the 2021-2022 school year. A professional photographer will come to the school to take photographs. They will be available for purchase after the session takes place.

Friday August 6, 2021 will be our First Friday of the Month Dress Up day! The theme will be to dress like your FAVORITE SESAME STREET CHARACTER! We can't wait to see all the children in their cute attire!
We will continue with POPCORN FRIDAYS and may even do some COTTON CANDY FRIDAYS! 4:30-5:30 PM.

PTO Meeting: September 24, 2019 We welcome ALL Teachers and Parents
August 26, 2019 is the first day of our new school year (2019-2020)! Classes will be arranged accordingly.
On August 22nd, we will have an around the world dress up for Mrs. Samantha's class since they are studying this unit. All children in the Preschool 1 class are to dress up for their assgined country but any other teachers and students may dress up as well.
First Step School will be closed August 23, 2019 for our annual teacher workday to get ready for the new school year.
Santa Pictures will be the same day as Whoville Dress up: December 7, 2018

We are having a build a FOREST FREINDS stuffed animal workshop on June 16, 2017. The choices are OAKLEY OWL, FLINT FOX, MONTANTA MOOSE, AND ROCCO RACCOON. All orders are due Friday, June 2, 2017. No late orders will be accepted.
We will be closed Monday, May 29, 2017 in observance of Memorial Day!
Preschool graduation photos will be taken the morning of May 26, 2017. We will be off campus for a couple of hours in order to do the photo shoot. The photo shoot will take place at Gruene, Texas. Please turn in the permission slip that was sent out last week. Thanks!

December 19-January 1, 2017, we will be closed for our annual Christmas Break. Regularly scheduled school will resume on January 2, 2017.

Our annual fundraiser this year is the local business discount cards. We are selling them for $15 each and they can be used over and over until December 31, 2016. Please do your part and sell at least 5 cards to help raise money for the PTO that funds parents night out, children's events, graduation, etc.

May 4-15, 2015: First Step School Auction/Fundraiser: We will be displaying baskets for silent auction bids. Please stop by and place a bid! Thanks to all of the parents who donated items for the class baskets and solicited donations from businesses.
March 2, 2014: The students and staff will be dressing up as Dr. Seuss book characters in celebration of his birthday. We will be having cake and singing Happy Birthday to a man who has inspired us all in childrens literature!
March 13th: The school will be closed for a teacher workday/staff continuing education training. Please refer to your calendar which was given out in August and/or the Holiday Calendar in the forms tab of this website for further closure dates.
In celebration of Halloween, the students will be wearing their pajamas all day. Please make sure the pajamas are comfortable and easy for the students to take on and off when using the restroom. Please wear regular shoes, no house shoes as the students will be going outside as normal. Start shopping now for those cute pjs!
On Friday, October 24th First Step School will honor all of the cancer patients who have lost their life to cancer, won the battle with cancer or who are currently fighting cancer. Please wear PINK to show your support during cancer awareness month.
October 18th will be the First Step School annual Picnic at TXI park on Hunter Rd. Please come out and join us for food and great family fun! The event will take place from 5-8pm.
October is Fire Safety month and First Step will incorporate an entire safety unit during the month of October. Therefore, we will have the Ambulance is coming on Thursday, October 9 to visit our school. On Friday, October 10th, the Pink Heels PINK Firetruck and South Hays County RED Firetruck will be visiting our school. On Tuesday October 14th, we will have a police officer and his motorcycle join our school. Thank you to all of these hard working community helpers for taking the time to come out to First Step to teach our children about Safety!

On Friday, March 21st from 4-6pm, First Step School will hold a 31 Bags party where parents will be able to shop for some really cool bags that can also be personalized. Stop by to view and make your selections!

Fundraiser: First Step School Annual Auction/Raffle
First Step School will be having their annual auction/fundraiser on Saturday, April 12 from 5-9pm at San Marcos Rec Center, (The Old Lions Club). Raffle tickets will be sold for $10.00 or if you buy 5, you get 1 free. The prizes are two $500 Visa Gift Cards and one $250 Visa Gift Cards. There will be both a silent and live auction and childcare if you sign up on advance. Please call us or email for more details.

First Step School will have Winter photos on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 10th and 11th. What awesome gifts just in time for Christmas!
The students in Mrs. Cynthia and Mrs. Kimberly's classes will be performing at Sights and Sounds of Christmas on Friday, December 6th at 5:30pm. Come out and watch our students celebrate Christmas and express their musical talent. Hope to see you there!
We will be closed November 27, 28 and 29th for Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we are combining this with our PTO as our community service project. Pink Heals in an organization that raises money for cancer victims in HAYS county. All the proceeds will remain in HAYS county.
There will be a 5K on Oct 26, 2013 at River Ridge Park in San Marcos, Texas. Early registration begins at 7am and the race will start at 8:00am. Walkers will start at 8:15am. Winners/Awards will be announced following the race.
We are teaming with Pink Heals to raise money for this awesome event. Therefore, parents/children of First Step School can participate in the run at a lower cost. The cost for adults is $10.00 and the cost for children is $5.00.

In celebration of Safety Month, the firetruck will visit First Step School on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 9am. The children will get to visit with the firefighters, climb inside the truck, demonstrate stop, drop and roll and get a special treat from the firefighters! Wow, what hot fun!!
The Police visit will be on Friday Oct 18, 2013 and the EMS will visit us on Friday, October 25, 2013.

Due to some scheduling conflicts, the PTO meeting for October will be moved back one week to the 3rd week in October. Therefore, we will meet at 6pm on
October 18th. Remember, childcare is offered for children walking and older but you must sign up in advance. The sign up sheet will be posted on the exit
door of the school the week of the meeting. Come join us

Please remember that the children will be going outside so shoes are required, no house shoes. Please dress them in pajamas that allow for easy access to use the restroom and change diapers. This is always fun for the children and teachers so please get involved in the fun!!!
Reading groups with Mrs. Tina started Monday, September 24th. The first day went well and we are excited to dive right on in and start learning our names, our friends names and the letters and letter sounds! Blast off to a great new start in our reading groups. Please read your child's homework sheet daily and complete all homework. Please remember your child's reading folder on a daily basis.
Sunday, November 4th, the children will be performing at the Pink Heals Cancer Foundation at the park where Sights and Sounds is located. The permission slips for this event went out the first part of September. Please remember to fill out the forms and turn them in before October 19th.Remember: All children must wear a PINK shirt in order to perform. If you would like to purchase a PINK HEALS T-SHIRT to help raise money for a good cause and have you and your child wear this shirt during the event, please place your order soon. The order form is located at the bottom half of the permission slip. Adults shirts are available in black or pink and the childrens shirts are available in pink. The adult shirts are $17 and the childrens shirts are $10.
